[Tcsh] Test harness for line editing ?

Are there good test harnesses for line editors that we can use to
test tcsh's inbuilt line editor (or equivalents such as libedit or
readline)?

Specifically, I'd like to investigate some editing niggles in tcsh,
but I'd prefer to first have an automated test harness that simulates
key presses and verifies cursor movement, character insertion and
character deletion.
