[Tcsh] New issue with xterm-404

Verified against xterm-403, building both with the same arguments on
the same system, so I think this is an xterm issue, and not a tcsh
issue, but I like you to know anyway

Linux 6.4.0-150600.23.78-default [openSUSE Leap 15.6]
  HP Z2TowerG9WorkstationDesktopPC
  13th Gen Core(TM) i7-13700K 800MHz(24 cores) x86_64  64008 Mb

Config call for xterm:
$ configure --prefix=/pro --with-x --with-Xaw3dxft --disable-imake \

Config call for tcsh:

If I start 404 with a tcsh in a black on very-light terminal,
completion often blanks out the auto-display, making the tcsh unworkable

$ xterm-404
...
$ exec tcsh
% touch /tmp/Download/xx{1,2,3,4}_foo
% mv /tmp/xx<TAB>

clears the whole line from the prompt forward
is this a tcsh issue or a xterm issue?
tcsh does *NOT* show that behavior in xterm-403
