Based on your information, I strongly suspect that this is indeed a
mistake and the wrong magic entry can safely be removed since no such
files exist.

I just thought it might be good if the LoC page used as a reference
for the entry were confirmed to be wrong and fixed before doing so.

I'm not sure either, but the website lists formats AT loc.gov as a
contact address, so you could try e-mailing them :)
